Senior Service
Ever since I was a child I have been a part of Sacred Heart community in Roslindale. I’ve received many sacraments such as communion, baptism, confirmation, and reconciliation at their church. In 2007 I graduated from sacred heart school but I have never left it. I still attend church at my parish ever y Sunday and in the summer of 2010 I did sacred heart school a great service in teaching third grade children communion classes in order to prepare them to receive the Eucharist, so they may grow closer to their faith. So this year I decided to do my senior service at the school I love, Sacred Heart.
At sacred heart I am working with K1 children who range from the ages 4-5 and together we work on arts and crafts to put in their little workbooks so they’ll have a collection of all the assignments they’ve accomplished. I don’t care about that though and there is little to gain from it, the interactions and conversations with the children is how I can really make a positive impact on their lives and in mine.
The K1 classroom has grey round play rug in the center of the room and everything circles around it. There are two tables which the kids use to construct their crafts and in front of the tables is the teacher’s desk where she observes the kids work. As soon as I walked into the classroom the children ran up to me and gave me hugs as if I were their own brother or sister and during circle time they all grabbed my hands, legs, and t-shirt so they could pull me in to join the group.
All the children are very innocent and honest so whenever I talk to them they respond truthfully and frankly which is very amusing because something’s they say are actually insulting and they haven’t learned that yet. These kids truly are the children of god and one of the kids I spoke to named Jenellese really hinted to what that really meant when she randomly chose to speak to me. She said “Easters coming Easters coming! And Jesus is coming back to life again, did you know that?” my response “yes I did and thank you for reminding me Jenellese”. It was such a great thing to say during the Lenten season and as I continue my service with the children in the K1 classroom I aim to help their faith evolve in a healthy catholic environment.

When Mark Zuckerberg formed Facebook in 2004, he had no idea how big it would actually become, and how big a debate the pros and cons of Facebook would spark. Along with a few of his friends at Harvard University, Zuckerberg created Facebook to fulfill the purpose of a college yearbook. Within a few months more and more people joined the community, and today Facebook has more than 500 million users all over the world. In January of this year, Facebook also became the second most visited website in the United States (read Facebook second most popular site in US).
In simple terms, Facebook is a social networking website where each user joins the community and connects with their friends virtually. Connected members can share information, pictures, videos and also use the Facebook instant messenger facility. A member creates a profile for himself and uploads anything he/she wants, and all his connected friends can view this data at any time.
The Privacy Issue
All this information sharing has brought the privacy issue to the fore, with many people vehemently claiming that Facebook is a gross violation of an individuals privacy. Though this is true to a certain extent, it is also true that one is a member of Facebook by choice. The pros and cons of Facebook will show us that this is a matter that can violate some peoples sense of privacy, but at the end of the day, it is entirely in your hands. The information displayed there is of your own choosing, and each individual deserves the right to decide what they want to share. You should also learn more about what is Facebook and how does it work.
One should accept that once such data has been uploaded on Facebook, it is in the public domain, and there will be people who will be viewing your profile. This is a conscious choice you are making, and therefore a Facebook member should not complain about privacy violation. If you are uncomfortable with this violation, you are free to delete your Facebook account as and when you like. Learn how to cancel Facebook account.
Pros and Cons of Facebook for Individuals
There are obviously two sides to this argument, and it all depends on what your opinions are. People who like Facebook can spend hours on it browsing through other peoples profiles, whereas some people cannot even stand the sight of it, even though they know how to use Facebook wisely. Here are some of the well known pros of Facebook.
These pros and cons of Facebook for kids and adults mean that this is double edged sword, and you have to make a decision about joining Facebook. Even if you are a member, there is no compulsion to share information every single day, and you can also choose to share only selected information. All this means that Facebook is synonymous with the Internet, in the sense that it can be useful or disruptive, only if you allow it to be.
